On July 5, 2018, a tourist boat Phoenix PC Diving carrying 105 tourists capsized and sank near Phuket island of Thailand. 47 Chinese tourists were dead or missing in this accident

The accident had aroused great attention from the leadership of the Party Central Committee and the State Council. Guangzhou Salvage was entrusted with Phuket salvage mission at this critical and difficult moment. 12-member emergency rescue team was then dispatched to the site overnight and participated in the rescue work urgently.

It was the raining season of Phuket and the water depth in the accident site was 45 meters. From 8 July to 11 July, the weather on site was getting worse and worse. The maximum wind speed reached 6 to 7 grade and the wave height was about 3 meters. The rescue work was extremely difficult.
 
On 15 July, divers from China and Thailand finally salved another body from the water after joint efforts at 19:05. The rescue action then officially came to the end.
