Shatin to Central Link Cross Harbour Section Project connects Shatin and Central and provides immersed tunnel for Hong Kong MTR. It is one of the livelihood projects funded by the Hong Kong Government. Guangzhou Salvage has mainly undertaken the major work in related to the underwater section of this project, including foundation leveling, undock, towing, immersion, installation and connection of the immersed tunnels and etc. The tunnel is 1.6 kilometers at length consisted of 11 sections of concrete immersed tunnel precast units, each weighs around 23,000 tons and extends around 160 meters in length. All the units were precasted at the Shek O Quarry and towed by four tugboats to Tseung Kwan O to complete outfitting, and then towed to the Typhoon Shelter of Causeway Bay for installation.
