“Geluo Spring” Rescue Operation

On 15th February, 2018, the Marshall ro-ro ship "Geluo Spring" which loaded with 3,342 vehicles ran aground in the waters near Jin Yin Island of the Xisha Islands, on its way from Singapore to Hong Kong.

As soon as receiving the accident report, Guangzhou Salvage launched the emergency procedure, set up an emergency rescue command group and rushed to the site immediately. At the same time, a group of engineers, technical personnel, divers and other emergency rescue personnel together with the tugboat “De Xing” and “De Peng” had been sent to the site to implement the rescue operation. The ro-ro ship had been successfully towed out from the stranding area by the evening of 18th February.

After "Geluo Spring" had been sealed properly on 3rd March, it was towed by the tugboat "De Xing" out of the lagoon. Afterwards, "Geluo Spring" continued its voyage to Hong Kong, and the rescue operation completed successfully.
